OK, The 74 Duster I just picked up has a 727 TF, & an aftermarket stamped steel deep pan,(Mopar Perf ?) the thing leaked like crazy, so I bought a new gasket, cleaned everything up real good with brake cleaner, ran a thin bead of high temp silicone on both sides of the gasket & reinstalled, I even let it sit 24 hrs. before refilling the trans, The sucker still leaks, I'm far from being a rookie, but did I miss something here? Are there special techniques for sealing up a deep pan??? should I have skipped the sealer & put the gasket on dry?
(I used the small bolts to keep the gasket centered while the sealer set up.)

Is the mounting surface flat? Overtightening can distort the bolt holes. Ball peen hammer, to smooth it out.

2464324ac is the reusable gasket from a dealer...never had one of these leak

You might try resealing the fill tube, at the trans case. I always seem to have a leak at that rotten thing.

I thought my pan was leaking but it turned out to be the neutral safety switch. The switch was brand new.

drained & pulled the pan (again)this morning, went to the local Dodge dealer & picked up the re-usable pan gasket, a little spendy @ 10.95 even with the club discount, refilled the pan & drove around the block a few times, no leaks yet (fingers crossed) Oh yeah, had to work the pan rail a bit, there were some waves I didn't notice the first time, thanks everyone for the good advise!

I hope it stays dry this time hyper. Identifying where the leak is coming from is half the battle. Usually (as SpeedThrills mentioned), it is due to a warped pan rail/overtightened bolts.
