I need to rebuild the trans in my 1974 d200, and am looking for advice on how to make sure it holds up to the 520hp 440 that will be in front of it. Anyone here have a favorite brand or parts supplier they can recommend?
I got my rebuild kit from Mancini Racing. The kit comes with a wrap kickdown band (2nd gear, as many kits do) The band is quite capable but I would up-grade to a better band just for piece of mind.
As long as it has the wider direct bushing, just go on ebay and find direct and forward red eagle clutch packs with thin top pressure plates. 6-7 frictions in each pack. A kevlar front band is cheap. Rear band is a bit more.
