727 shifting slow to 3rd

For some reason when I get on it hard 2nd to 3rd will miss for a split second and then find the gear. It revs in nuetral before finding gear. This problem started after swapping trans pan and fluid. Any ideas?

That's called flare up. Are you sure it's full of fluid? Check it again in neutral (fully warmed up) to make sure. With a manual valve body there isn't much you can do to improve the shift.
