727 shifting

I have a fresh 727 with a shift kit.
The linkige adjustment at the transmission looks very slopy.
I adjust it to match the console floor shift but as soon as try to shift when driving the shifting pattern disapears. Keep loosing drive and first. Reverse ends up were neutral is.
Is there a trick to adjusting these.

Solved my problem.
The arm coming from the tranny was the wrong size.
Came off a column shift and i have a console, which gave me the wrong radius
when trying to find gears.
Its these little things that drive you nuts.
