I drove the car today morning and realized third was gone also. I didn’t see that clearly earlier because I have gear vendors in this car.
I took the trans off the car today, got the front drum out and found that it only had outer seal installed on the piston, there was no inner seal on the drum at all. I bought this drum off eBay, it was supposed to be installed and ready to use with 6 frictions inside. All I did was check clearance back then. Didn’t really bother to check for absent seals… ;-)
Fortunately it’s a small block car so easy access everywhere. Took me 4 hours to remove the trans, find the problem, install lip seal, put the trans back together and prep everything for installing the trans tomorrow . I should have the car ready to drive before noon tomorrow.
Trust no one is the lesson here.
