I have a 73 340 cast crank that I put away and I haven`t looked at since. I was wondering what you think of its value and is it worth me getting it out and taking pics. I replaced the crank with a steel crank many years ago. Don`t remember of any issues when rebuilding it and I`m pretty sure it is original standard crank.

My guess is maybe $50.
A friend of mine had a cast and forged one for a 440, he wanted $50 for both, I declined.

It's the same thing as a 318 crankshaft so probably $100

Yes and no about it being the same. Both are cast cranks, but the 318 cranks are internally balanced. The 340 cast cranks are heavier duty cranks and are externally balanced.

@luvmopars If the crank isn't rusted up and is still standard, AND you still have the harmonic balancer unique to those cranks.....$50 to $100 maybe. The main ones that would be interested would be someone doing a restoration and needing a good original crank for a late 72 or a 73 340.

today in: why does the machine shop want $500 to balance my rotating assembly...
Because somebody listened to Dan and bought the wrong thing. At least he got corrected. Damn.
