73 340 headers

I got a set of headers, sadly they dont fit. they are for 72 and older K-frames from what I understand. The front header tube is supposed to go under the k-frame from what I understand, I tried and it would NOT fit at all. I will be posting them for sale actually, and can post a pic here if anyone wants to see them. :blob:

What headers DO fit my 73 340 kframe/car etc? its a 73 duster. Some websites say only 6x-72... so I dont want to get the wrong headers! I do want to be able to have a little growing room too as I want to build a motor with a lil more oomph in the near future.

Any advice would be appreciated :coffee2:

i got the same set of headers on a 73 duster as i do on a 71 dart...and 71 duster.....

so what headers do you have?

i suspect the OP has Hooker 5204 headers,from what i have read on this isue i believe the problem is the location of the swaybar on these newer K-frames.most other headers fits all the 67-76 cars

not sure as I cant find the labels on them anywhere. they are similar to the ones 1Fast340 posted, but not the same.

I could NOT get the drivers side front cylinder to fit at ALL even with the engine disconnected from the motor mount. The steering box wasnt even in at the time...

Don't look like 5204's

You may have to trim the front cylinder tubes. They seem too long which could explain them not lining up with the cylinder port

I couldnt get the front tubes to fit, the exhaust ports lined up fine... checked em on a friends 340 that was on a stand.

The front drivers tube literally could not go anywhere and still bolt on.
