73, 74, 75, and 76 dusters and dart sports

Actually most 73-74 Dusters had clear parking lights and in 1975-76 they had amber lights. So those amber parking lenses are correct for 1975.

my 1974 Duster has a 1975 blacked out grill, I like the look. I like the amber lights.

The blacked out grille makes the aluminum radiator stand out. Maybe consider painting the front side of the radiator so it will blend in.

Seemed like just yesterday that real solid, decent driving 318 and slant Dusters were everywhere and cheap. Now all I see is beat up, rusted out rollers and non running over priced projects.

Never thought of my car as a "beaker", but didn't building it for other people to like either so never put much thought into it.

Here's mine, just a bigger image of my avatar.

I am feeling old with this thread and I had a discussion the other day about these cars with a local mopar guy. When I got my driver's license at age 18 (yes, I got a late start) in 2004 these 73 and up cars seemed to everywhere. I started with B and E bodies and it seemed like even those were around. When I bought my first duster in 06, I remember you could look in the newspaper classifieds and actually have a selection of 73 and up cars and they were relatively inexpensive.
I bought a 74 yellow duster for 1500. Bucks. It was originally a slant car but I bought it with a mean 360 that was already in it and nice. It was overall a really nice car then.

Now In 2021, you never see them in the classifieds or even on Craigslist anymore, at least not around here. The ones that do pop up seem to be really rough, half in the toilet kind of car or a super high priced so called show car for tens of thousands of dollars.

What happened to the Joe dirt cars that were complete and ran and priced very reasonable. Days gone by, I guess.

Even at 50 I feel like I was born too late. I love the 30s cars and would have loved to see the salt flats in their Hay-Day. I will build what I got, not accumulating any more......at this point.

Depends who you ask, I prefer the look of the dart sport but they seem to be greatly outnumbered by dusters. At least It seems all I ever find are dusters over dart sports.
I always thought the Dart Sport and Dusters started looking the same during this era, they both had beaks anyway...

My first A-body was a 318/ auto 1973 Duster that was Honey Gold with brown stripe and snakeskin top. An old man had bought it and in 1974 had transferred ownership to his sister who was also elderly. She was in her 90’s when my Dad acquired it from her estate. I had just sold my 1974 Challenger so I became the owner of it with just 34,000 miles on the clock. The car had always been stored in a garage. It was absolutely a perfect example of a survivor. I miss that car so much.
So now I’m assembling a numbers matching 1973 340/ 4 speed that was Honey Gold but is repainted in Sunfire Yellow with Parchment interior. It has the fold down backseat.
I acquired the car after it was painted and really wish my friend would have painted it the original color.
I also have a 1973 Duster project that is originally Sunfire Yellow and I will turn it into a Ed Hamburger 340/360 Only clone if I don’t sell it. I’m leaning toward selling it because I have 4 Mopars ahead of it.

In the middle of polishing the stainless trim, so the vinyl top can go on.
