Hey all, it's been awhile. I just picked up '73 Scamp for 2800 bucks; have been looking for a fairly clean A-body for a long while and this one showed up locally on craigslist.

Is a big bolt pattern car with power brakes and disks in front, but sadly a 7 1/4 rear end, no idea what rear gear is in it. 318 with a tf 904, an eddy performer mani and 1406 600cfm vac sec carb, crap 2 inch dual exhaust, and HORRID 20 inch donk wheels on hub adapters. I already ordered a set of some cheap, but nice looking 15x7, 4.25 bs wheels off summit https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vsw-141h5765gm6 and some 225/60 15 all seasons, it should look MUCH better afterwards.

Luckily other than that, it's an early 73 car and it didn't get the heavy 5 mph shock bumpers. The interior is pretty clean and is has virtually no rust except just one tiny 1/8 inch hole at the bottom of the passenger a-pillar, gotta love Cali cars.

Here are some pictures of when I picked it up.

The trip home

Decided to see how good this old paint was. The next day I clay bar'd, cut, buffed and waxed her, the results were more than what I expected.

She was really dirty haha.

Damn it's amazing what a little elbow grease will do. The color is literally a shade darker.

There after I fixed a few little things, she didn't pick up that well and the trans kick down didn't seem to work right. Ended up pickin up who knows how much horsepower because numbnuts who had it before me didn't set the throttle right, damn thing was only opening the butterflies about 60% with the pedal to the floor, and the kick down adjustment was barely engaging with the throttle applied. I reset everything and am happy to say she scoots a whole lot better than before haha!

Plans right now are to remove the ugly bumper stops, moldings, and all the chrome trim besides what surrounds the glass. I think that junks gaudy as hell and belongs on a caddy. Then I am going to go through all the suspension and brakes to make the car roadworthy again, I don't know if it's those stupid donks or bad alignment, but this thing is sketchy as hell on the freeway doing 60, it's all over the damn road haha.

she cleaned up nice - can't wait to see it with the better wheels and tires! It sounds like you're on the right track with it - keep the updates and pics coming! - - I'm thinking it would look great with a painted roof - either white or the same as the body...

Nice find. Send me a PM if you want to sell the bumper guards.

Great find! That's a solid starting point. It's hard looking past those rims and seeing a car in great shape; great idea ditching them.

Looks like a good start. I would park it and put a car cover over it until the new wheels showed up. LOL

Nice looking car!!! I've seen that one on craigslist for a while...... I bought my Dart in April of last year from a couple just south of Marysville off craigslist (traded straight across for my 74 Courier)...... Take your time, go slow, and things will turn out great!!!!

Thanks everyone, and yes I know, I will never understand why people put those hideous rims on any car, I don't really want to drive the car around right now because it's embarrassing LOL.

Me too! I am thinking the same body color, removing the rotted out old vinyl top should be fun.

That's the plan, once the car is sound and good enough for puting around safely, I'll start dumping some power into it haha.

Well since day one I said, I'm going to get new wheels and tires on this things asap! The night I came home with the car I hopped on summit and this is what I got. Tires should be here Tuesday:)
Wheel specs
15x7 4.25 back spacing
Tires are a 225/60/15
Went with a square set up for now that way I can rotate them. Once I get some power in the car I'll get something a bit beefier. As for the old donks if anyone wants them you can have them. If no one gets them by Tuesday when the tires arive I might just do a burnout till they are showing the cords. I'll be sure to take a video for you guys haha.

Please take a video lol.

Rolls fat smokeys in 2nd with ease now after new cap, rotor, plugs, and re-tuning the carb; damn that thing was all out of wack. One pump is all it takes to start it in the cold now.

Also ordered everything I think I'll need for the front end and an alignment so I don't eat the new tires up.

I have always hated the way 20's look like on older cars....... especially old Mopars!!!!

As promised here's a vid of a burnout with the 20s since the tires just arrived for the new wheels. Sorry about the lighting couldn't do one durning the day living in a pretty populated area.

thats one clean car. I love the front seats in those years with the fold down center arm rest

Thanks dude! Yeah, it's really nice for cruising around.

So you guys remember this janky *** throttle linkage and how the kick down was not working?

Well, most of it was modified 2 barrel stuff that didn't even work from the PO, **** sakes there was so much jank **** I replaced in the span of these last 2 weeks. I could not get the kick down to adjust right and realized that the eddy didn't have the throttle bracket for mopars on it! I picked that up to correct the geometry as well as all the necessary 4 barrel brackets and springs and everything fell nicely into place. After everything was set, I readjusted the ignition timing to 12* btdc, set idle mixture, oil change, and new fuel lines and filter. She hauls *** now.

Installed some gauges left over from another old project I haven't gotten to.

And a new air filter to replace the tiny ugly old one.

Looking to get rid of my a/c altogether, not working as is and I never use it in any of my cars. Does anyone want to trade for a non a/c pulley setup and alternator? I'll pull everything firewall forward, just PM me.

I wouldn't get rid of your air. when you have the funds just buy a modern compressor. they rob hardly any power.

Lookin Good
If you didn't trash them goofball wheels too bad, put em up on CL and let somebody pay for your suspension parts... I'm sure there is an import somewhere that needs them LOL

The only problem I had with your video is that you stopped before the rims were gone.
I really don't want to see those again somewhere else.:D
