74 340 Cuda! what should i do?

Look, I know your problem first-hand as this is exactly what I'm going through with my Duster. You will, in all probability, have stuck rings. At the very least you need to pull the intake and heads to get a look at the cylinder bores and the cam & lifters. I have little doubt you will have some pitting on the cam lobes as well as the lifter bases; if so, you will need to replace them. Stuck rings you won't know about until you run the motor, but checking the cylinder walls for rust and/or pitting is far more important. With the heads off, you can pour some WD-40 in the cylinders and have it soak the rings; if there are any stuck ones, this might free them up. Please don't half-a$$ your attempt just to get it running! You could have the engine out in a day if need be. Just my .02 cents
