There is about a 4 week lead time on the front and rear suspension.
I was out of town for work last week so I haven't had anytime to do anything. Went to the shop and got a little more done this weekend. Repainted the rear upper trim that I got from a FABO member. I then turned my attention to the dash......took off the old pad(new one on order) and removed all of the components. Painted the frame flat black, painted and put new woodgrain vinyl on all of the components.
It is coming together but it seems like it is taken forever. Let me know what you guys think.
I was on the fence about the RMS suspension because it is a big $$$ item but I know that it will make the car more drivable and I will be able to put more power to the ground.
Nice to have a three day weekend and be able to spend one day on the car. I got the dash pad on and then got all the wiring back in,
Now all I need is the two vents and hoses, and the front speaker
Got over to the shop the other day. The floor is welded in and the trunk is next
This is the passenger's side rear quarter panel. Not to bad, just a small repair
The rear just above the trunk pan on the left there is a little Swiss cheese but again a small repair
The driver side looks great
The trunk lid looks great also
Starting to skim coat it
Next week I should see some real progress and have the body work done and ready for primer. My RMS suspension shipped yesterday and should be here on the 11th. I can see the light but it's still a little ways off............
Well it's been a couple of weeks and the trunk is done.
The hood got delivered but I had to trash it because of the poor quality of it.
I just don't know what they were thinking letting this POS out of the factory.
What ever happened to quality control?
They refunded me all my money, but I am now with out a hood and on top of
that I waited 10 weeks to get a POS hood that I can't use. Pictures says it all.
I don't know how a place can stay in business and produce this kind of crap. Maybe they think because they are on the east coast and I am on the west coast that I will except this kind of half *** work.....WRONG! Well enough with this rant now on to find a hood.....
No it's a company in Florida. I just want to give them the benefit of the doubt and not drag them thru the mud because they said that they had hired some new people and they may not know what to be looking for and then they took care to refund my money right away.
Update:
So I went out to Santa Rosa on Saturday to pick up a used hood from a local junk yard and took it over to the body shop. Going to try to use the hood scoop off the bad hood and affix it to the used one. We'll see if that works.....Looks like at least two more weeks before I get the car over to Pete's gear shop to get the suspension and all put in but I did go over to Pete's after grabbing the hood and painted the front and rear suspension parts and next weekend I've got to go over and put it all together and I'll get some pictures of it then.....
Well the car is still at the shop and has not gone to primer as of yet..... but I have been
working on other things. I got the bumpers back from the chrome shop and they look GREAT!!!
Also got the front and back seats done. Fresh from the upholsterer.....
Now all I need is a car to put all of the goodies in..........
Well it's been awhile. Still at the body shop in second primer, I don't if it is me or is there something odd about auto body guys that say a date and don't even try to make it???
I'm still working on the other parts to remind myself what I am building while I am waiting for the body.
Primer and painted the bumper hangers
Also painted the Go Wing
Here's to my dream of a yellow hot rod becoming a reality.........
Well it's been another month and no car, but I did go sign off on the paint ( Y1 ) this last weekend. I've been busy getting the chrome shined up and putting in a new heater core.
Now all that's left is getting my car back!!! Has anyone out there run into this? I paid him a deposit ( ½ ) tells me 2 1/2 months (now it has been 6 ) and I keep waving the finale payment in his face but he only works on his time??? I just don't get it.
Put the new Griffin radiator, shroud, hoses, and cap together.
Got the grill painted and the chrome trim buffed.
And then I rebuilt and painted the fan motor for the heater box.
Done for the day but still have a few little items that need attention. I think just about the time I get the car back I will have everything that I need to get it all back together.
