Hi guys
im new to the forum
but not new to Hotrods and Race cars

i scored a 74 Duster in pretty good shape for its price

its a 318/906, 8-1/4 rear end Car
Factory AC

1st step is that i see if i can get this SB running 1st.

i have a SBE 76'MoHo 440 , that i threw some basics on
Cam
intake
452 Heads are at the shop for a valve job, milling and spring install.

and i consider putting this guy in the Dart with a 727 that i have to source ( location Dallas TX)

i know i can get the mounts from SCHUMACHER
what oil pan do i need?
(its a 318 V8 Duster so it has the right K Member)

and what Headers other than TTI or SCHUMACHER will possibly work?
i try to keep it $$ in my Budget.

purpose for the Car:
90% Street, maybe some fun now and then on the track

Further what size Carb do you recommend?
750cfm or 850?
Since i mainly street drive it i possibly do a Holley Vac secondary?

Also What Accessories can i swap over from the 318? are any of the SB brackets usable on a BB?
Power steering?
the AC unit?
Alternator?

No on any of the accessories swapping over.

Those are your best header options but the Hedman shortie headers may fit with a small starter. Some have used manifolds (search threads here).

750 vacuum secondary carb or any other 750 is fine.

If you ever put sticky tires on it that 8.25 rear will go on permanent vacation.

Hope you didn't over cam it,those pistons look pretty far in the hole

Well damn it on the accessories
The PS and Ac is what I was hoping for.

Yes it's a low compression 440.

I’m going to offer the ever popular, “put a 360 in it” advice.
Alternatively……..”stroker kit in the 318”.

I know……..not real helpful.

I agree. Keep it a small block and keep the a/c.
If mine hadn't already been swapped when I bought it , I doubt I would be putting a big block in it.

i agree with option 2 there. by the time you get a 360 your a good way towards a stroker kit to give the 318 a healthy 390 inches. the sale of the 440 will finish the job with a pair of speedmaster heads too.
neil.

I really consider it , because of the AC, PS etc.
I will try to fire up the 318 as is... it hasn't run in many years. If it runs good...I consider to pull it. Slap a cam , intake and speedmaster heads on it...
+ reseal , rings etc..( rockauto.com)

I was even thinking To single turbo.it but it seems very tight. From what I see and alot of re-engineering...

I was looking at the speedmaster sb heads.
Can they be used with stock rockers?.
Those a cam intake , carb could squeeze a bit out of the 318 I assume?
...
Then drive it have fun and Gen3 HEMI it in the future.
( I have done a bunch of LS swaps , so I am familiar with the EFI world too).
Or just LS the dart with a cammed 5.3 I have here lol. ...joking
