Let me sart out by saying thanks to all you guys for the info in the past. Now i need some suggestions on my build.
I have a original 74 swinnger 318 backed by a 904 and 8.25 rear end. My 78 360 is in the machine shop for a .30 over and to be internally balanced, J heads cleaned up. Im thinking on going w/ the kb-107 flat tops. A Adv. Duration 268/280 Comp cam, New push rods, Clevite rod and main bearings and Fedural Mogul cam bearings, Double roller timing chain, RPM air gap if i can. 650 or 750 holley carb.
I want the car to be a daily driver but be able to make a couple of passes since i am close to a track. Most of my driving is city with some freeway.
I guess what i getting at without boreing every one to death is.

Is the cam selection seem to big or to small? I dont mind a lopey or choppey idel but i do like power brakes and PS.

Is the 750 holley to much or go 650? W/this combo

Since it is going to be internaly balanced do you think the 904 / 8.25 will hold up? If im not mistaken it should be a direct swap minus oil pan and right engine mount. I have a small block 727 under the work bench . Both need a rebuid. Aww my head hurts.....
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appriciated.. :toothy10:

An internal balance engine has nothing to do with the rear or tranny life or longevity. Unless there in poor shape and unable to handle a power upgrade. As minor as yours is.

It should be fine otherwise. Useing headers?
Cam seem absoultey fine for your described useage.
You assume correctly on the swap issues except if you change to the 727 which will require a driveshaft shortening.
