I realize that the answer is probably a resounding NO!!!!, followed by gales oF laughter, but I have a very good 741-case 3.55 with a brand bew Auburn limited slip that works really well.

I am apprehensive that my Vortech blown 360 MAGNUM, with 10 pounds of boost, might shred the small U-Joint in the rear (I have a 7290 planned for the front.)

If such a part exists, I'd like to swap this small (7260) unit for the larger one, but I don't have very high hopes....:)

Anyone know for sure, one way or the other???

I think you may need to just check the splines - if the pinion is coarse spline, I think it will work. Just a note though - the 741 has a 1.375" pinion and the 742 is a 1.75" pinion. Coarse-splined 7260 series yokes do exist though, I once pulled one from a swap-meet 742 case with 2.76 gears. Not sure if that helps.

Here's an 8 3/4 guide: http://www.dodgepolara.com/rear.txt

Why not just drive it and see what happens? Are you running slicks?

A resounding Yes!!
the yokes will swap,..done did that..got a 3.91 SG 741.
How it'l hold up? Depends on how hard you hammer on it, and traction. The 741 has been looked down on for all out perf, but mine is 90% street---should last me just fine.

You might be okay with that case. I took my Dart to the drag strip this year with 323 gears. Launched it all day at 5000 rpm , shifted at 6200 rpm , no problems. they are pretty tuff. I just bought a posi with a 391 gear with the large joint and will try to better my time next time out.

I wouldn't worry about your small ujoint yoke breaking first. Stock Eliminator guys use them on purpose to reduce rotating weight without problems with much heavier cars and more HP.

I know I am probably worrying about something yhat will never happen. But, I drive to the strip (no trailer), and it's no fun trying to get a broken car home (60 miles) in th middle of th night.

I run 8-inch wide TA Drag Radials (Goodrich) that are 26-inches tall. They usually don't spin if the track is prepped.

With the blower, that might change; I dunno.

Thanks to all for the good advice and info!
