Finally getting the motor ready to put into the Dart.
400/451
440 steel crank mains ground to fit 400 block
440 resized rods ARP bolts, bushed with 990 pins
Ross flat top pistons o.o deck height all balanced to within 1/2 gram.
MP 528 cam degreed at 110 intake centerline
Large valves ported 452 heads

727 T/A 3200-3500 stall
Tubbed 29.5x13.5x 15 tires
Narrowed 8 3/4 w / 3.55 clutch type sure grip, probably going to 4.10's after I see how it runs.

Painted tonight, will try to get the engine and tranny into the dart this week.
Once it is in i'll measure for the driveshaft set the pinion angle and weld the spring perches into place.

cool looking project you have going there. post some more pics when you can. sorry if this wasn't you, but did i meet you at Dallas Rice body shop a couple of weeks ago. i was putting the steering box etc in my 73 duster.

oh yes that was me. how far along are you coming on the duster?

My duster is coming along slow but great. Dallas got the duster painted and it looks great, this is the first old car i have had with nice paint on it.lol the one time i went over to the shop to look at it i got got to take some more pics. wish mine was tubed out like yours is. I am looking forward to more pics of yours. thanks Mopar65

Well I got the tranny on, installed motor and trans bolted to cross member and fabbed the elephant ears mount. Working on getting the headers to fit. Waiting on my push rods and rocker shaft spacers to come in. The intake carb and valve covers are just set in place to see how it looks. Its' about time I'm making progress.

Been out with the crudd, havent got much done. My comp custom cam came back after having the front journal fixed. I didn't think I would see it this soon thats why I threw in the MP528, so I took out the 528 and installed the custom cam, EDM solid lifters My 440 Source push rods, Isky adj ductile iron rockers.
Set the Holley Street Dominator in place and it doesn't fit. After the zero deck and milled heads the intake needs .050 milled. I got a Torker intake that was previously milled from my friend Bill and it is just right :finga:
my next step is to install the torker and work on getting headers in place.

Spent some time in the shop the last few days, adjusted the valves bolted down the intake, the carburetor mount holes need helicoils, the headers fit great after messaging the bottom left and right corners of the firewall with a BFH. The tires rubb the headers a little bit when I turn the wheel, I will need smaller tires. Removed the big hood scoop I will use a smaller one. Time to get an alternator, radiator, belt and hoses,
route brake lines, fuel line, trans lines etc.:coffee2:

Nice work. How narrow is that rear end? Mini tub or full tubs?:coffee2:

I had the houseing and Dutchman axles built to 44.75" axle flange to flange. There is 18.5" of room for the tire in the fenderwells, it has M/T ET DRAG 29.5x13.5x15 tires that fit real nice. :finga:

I reinforced the rubber crossmember mount with some old head bolts and washers. The trans shouldn't
pull loose from the crossmember now.

I removed the small plastic fuel cell cut a little out of the floor for the outlet, placed the 16 gallon aluminum cell on a cut to size rubber floormat for protection. I'll need to make some mounting straps later.

I brrought the fuel line up close to the fuel pump, I need to go from 1/2" tubeing to 3/8 NPT I'll get the fittings
Monday. I'll run some 3/8 tubeing to the carburetor.

I installed the dipstick and mounted it to the motormount ear. Time to go in and take a break. :coffee2:

I received my water pump, fan and radiator this week. I ordered the CVS electric water pump it is the shortest one that I could find the spec's on, it is a very dependable high output unit. I ordered the Griffin
22"x19" 2 rows of 1.25" tubes for superior cooling. also a 3000 cfm low profile electric fan.
I will be installing these in the next few days. Today I fabricated the radiator support and painted it. Its cold out I hope the paint is dry by tomorrow.

Very nice work. Thanks for the measurements. Looking forward to a pic of the rear.(end of the car).:coffee2:

Surprise the oil filter police have not seen your Fram oil filter on there...LOL

Oh yes good eye. I'll use the fram filter for the break in, then use the black Wix filter. :finga:
I'm going out to the shop in a bit and plan to finish the water pump radiator and fan install and see how close it all fits. I'll post some pic's tonight.

Here are some pic's of the rear end. I didn't paint the axle tube where I need to weld the spring mounts. I haven't set the pinion angle yet. These are mopar SS springs. I still need the mopar drag shocks and pinion snubber. I did get the 3.91 ring and pinion and need to install them with the clutch type shure grip.
Today I got the waterpump, radiator, fan and alternator mounted. They are a close fit. I need to make an adjustment brace for the alternator, get a belt and a new top radiator hose. you can't see it in the photos but the pulleys are lined up real nice. :thumbrig:

i have a single crank pully that might work better than the multi rib one you have now. if you want to try it. cant wait to get my duster together.

Well it finally warmed up nice and I got a little work done on the dart.
I installed the trans lines and cooler, there is an 1 1/2" air space above the trans cooler It should get plenty of air back there, If it runs hot I'll put a fan on it and lower it another 2".
I finally mounted the fuel tank and line.

Cool Dart Sport, I like the duster front end! I'm also putting a 75 Dart Sport together, but mine is a driver with a Demon front end!

I got a little shop time in and made some brackets and mounted the MSD 6A, coil and battery trunk mount. I ran the cables for the battery, and started some engine bay wiring. I need to get some switches, fuse block and relays for my power distribution. I'll post some more pic's soon.
