Did a bit more these last few days.
I wired the engine and switches inside car. Put a gallon of trans fluid in and pushed the mufflers onto the collector reducers. Had to pull the plugs and change the gap, MSD instructions say to run the gap between .040 and .050 I had to change them from .035 to .045. I set the engine at 16* BTDC and ran the plug wires. I will be busey the next 2 days and wont get back in the shop untill at least Thursday.
Next chance I get I'll fill the radiator, put some gas in and a fresh battery, prime the oiling system set the distributer and fire that baby up.

Well! I fired up the engine today, did the cam break-in, now I have to put the inner valve springs in and finish up the rest of the Dart. Here are some pic's of the engine as it looked at fire up.

Since the last post I have set the pinion angle, measured for the drive shaft and had it built, welded the spring perches in place. Took out the 741 3.55 sure grip and installed the 742 case 3.91 gears and spool.
Installed the new drive shaft.
I decided to do away with the worn out fiberglass front end and put the original front end from my 74 duster donor car. I picked up a 22" radiator support and inner fenders from fellow FABO member MOBodyman.
Did some fab work on my frame and the inner fenders. I need to remove the radiator support drill a few more holes clean, prime, paint and assemble.
I'll be a lot happier on the street side of it with a solid front end.

Finally got around to plumbing the brake lines, line lock, proportioning valve, master cylinder, hooked into the front lines and to the rear wheel cylinders. The front master brake line looks close to the header tube in the Picture but it's got 1 1/4" from the line and the bottom of master to the header tube. I will bleed them after I finish the header wrap and mounting them back on the heads. I may have remove the master cylinder lines to get the header out and back in.

I made brackets and mounted the radiator to the the new radiator support.

I moved the drive shaft loop forward to within 6" of front u joint per NHRA spec's.

Prepped the under side of hood and trunk lid, primered and painted satin black.
Modified trunk hinge supports off of a 68 valliant to bolt onto package tray, perfect fit, will use gas struts instead of torsion rods.
Header wrap compleated, headers mounted, brakes compleated with firm pedal.

Hey Clay you are doing a great job on the car. I ended up selling my big block dart to pay off some bills, now that have some breathing room i found a pick in pull in Springfield mo that i can get a complete fuel injected magnum 360 out of a truck, jeep etc for 140 dollars pulse a 50 dollar core. I am going to get one for my duster and even thinking about finding a 2 wheel drive so i can use the over drive trans. for now i am going to run it pretty much stock with the factory fuel injection and the next year or two i want to put a turbo on it. oops sorry for getting off track but on removing the master cylinder. i would get some braided stainless steel lines that will come right off the master cylinder. that way if you do have to remove the master cylinder, instead of having to break the system open and leak fluid every wear with the felxable brake lines you can just unbolt the master cylinder and lay it out of the way.

Thanks for the flex brake line idea. I liked the way you painted the black on the duster.
I think I'll do mine like that with blk hood grill bumpers deck lid and rear panel, and go with cobalt blue on the sides and roof.

After a few weeks of body work and sanding a few hours at a time. Got it washed, dusted and masked. Got 1 coat of high build primer on today I was whooped and it was getting late so I cleaned up snapped some pic's and called it a day. I'll get another coat on Monday if all goes well. Then some finish glazing. It's all one color now. :coffee2:

Did a little blocking and skimming with glazeing compound. I haven't done anything this week I've had the "crud". My fever broke this afternoon and I feel a lot better. I was surfing FABO and got excited, I went out and did a little sanding and a little bit of skimming and took a few pic's. Not much but it's progress. :coffee2:
