Hi,

I am lookin for a little mopar info.

My bud wants to sell me a 360 4x4 dodge 100 truck. He knows practically nothing about cars. He sent me a couple pictures.

First off can they be 4x4 and not have a wheel hub locks? Picture looks like front hubs are smooth with the wheel (no hub caps either). Is that all time 4x4 or something?

Secondly, does this factory 76 truck 360 have air tube injection crap on the heads?

It has a 4 barrel apparently, would this be a TQ? My guess is yes.

Well thanks for any info yall.

.

Yes it can be 4x4 and not have locking hubs you have to add those. Another way to tell if it is 4x4 is if it has an axle under the front of it.
If factory yes it will have a TQ but could use and adapter plate and put on an eddy or holley or they changed the intake. Could you post some pics?

I'd bet money it's full time 4x4 unless it's been converted. You cannot just "add hubs" to a full time.

the heads will have the ports under the manifolds that is for the air injection, the manifolds should cover this

it likely won't have an A.I.R pump on it from factory but you never know with USA emissions canadian models don't have it until later on

factory they came with or without locking hubs, but in 1976 it should still have the hubs sticking out past the wheel

1979 was the first year that had no hubs and no spot for them they had the vacuum pod on the passengers side of the differential

More than likely its full time 4wd . New process 203 transfer case. Selector lever should be 4 hi 4 hi loc, IIRC neutral 4 lo and 4 lo loc. There is a differential built into t case. I had a big block ramcharger 76 and its been a while but it seems like there wasn't anything available to convert to hubs. Pretty reliable t case but the drive chains do get sloppy.

i had a 77 ramcharger. full time 4 wheel drive, automatic trans, no locking hubs. the guy i had gotten it from had taken the the front driveshaft off because of transfer case problems causing the engine to overheat...or so he said. we never did get it working right. make sure to use the same size tires all the way around all the time.

Really? If it has a front axle.lol . Smog heads are an easy fix. Some are tapped for 1/4 inch set screws. If not its easy enough to do. They use a slip 4x4. It only grabs when the rear loses traction unless you lock it in with the lever inside. In the head on pic you can see the front spring hanger and the diff pumpkin to the left of the tag.

Yea, I am only about half *** familiar with 4x4s. I have a great 96 ranger 4x and a great 01 dak 4x but have never really been into either of them too far.

I noticed the bump to the drivers side under the engine area of the front license plate. I really didnt know if that was the diff or not.

:) Well that solves it.

Thanks for all the good info shared folks!! Very nice.

I knew it would be better to ask fellow Mopar heads and get the facts rather than search all over the internet for the next five years.

In the photo, it appears to have the later "more crappy" front hub setup. These use an expensive double--Timken tapered bearing which must be bought and used as a set. I know of no way to change the front seals without burning a set of those bearings. This is because the force necessary to remove the bearings will damage the rollers and races. I believe it's called binelling
