Hi,

I am looking at yet another rear end online for $400. This rear end was out of a 1976 D100 vehicle. It's a Posi 8.75 3.55 gears with 489 housing. Will this work for my '71 dart swinger build? Thanks!

Might be a bit wide . Are you talking the pumpkin or the whole casing ?

The housing will be too long.

Actually if the center is a suregrip with 3.55's I think I would grab it just for the center section. Then you can find an empty housing or one with just the axles and such and pop that center section in it.

That's not a bad price for a center section alone with what's in it.

Right , just the centre section is worth it , 3.55 posi is a great choice . You could always sell the casing to some truck with a bent or broken case

Hmmm okay I'll do that then. Thanks guys. I guess I'll get complete rear end for the center section and search for an abody housing and brakes. Thanks!

If I remember correctly 1974 was the last year for a 8 3/4 in a Dodge pickup.

Got it. Yeah it's a complete nicely kept 8.75 rear. I'll look into how much shortenIng it would be. Otherwise I'll part it out for the housing and drums and jet we the center section.
