Hi everybody.i have a problem with my 8 1/4 rear end,it has c clips an i want to eliminate them.but i cant find any info about it anywhere.so i wonder can`t this be done???really gratefull for any answer to this problem.thanks.

To use Green Bearings you would have to cut the ends off the axle and weld on 8.75 ends and then have custom axles machined to accept the bearings.

Why the interest in elminating the C-Clips? If you are making enough power to break after market axles then you should be looking at a more stout rear end. Lots of folks run 8.25's in cars that run deep into the 12's for years without axle failures.

hi,i am going to run a 383 big block and manuell transmission.the main problem with the c clips is that here in norway, you are not allowed to use c clip rear ends at the drag race track, because of the risk that a c clip would brake and the axle fall off.probaly just have to get another rear end i guess.

They do sell C-clip eliminators, they holthe hub and axel in incase of breakage.Try Mancini,s,Summit,Strange.or just go 8 3/4??

If your upgrading to a bigblock and manual transmission, its time to upgrade the rearend to atleast a 8 3/4 properly prepped it can handle most applications,if your going to make a lot of power with a manual its time for a dana....

Good advice stroked, :toothy10: but I'm guessing he has to make due with what he has now and where he lives, that could be a problem :angry7: even though it's very sound advice. I also wondered where to get what he's looking for. LOL and I'm here in the states. I tried looking before......

Just a point of interest. The c-clip it self does not see a lot of load and would all most be impossible to break. The issue is the axle breaking anywhere between the diff and wheel will result in the wheel seperating.

I am surprised that there is not a kit for the 8.25 considering the number of Jeeps that have that rear under them.

Thank`s everybody for answers an advices.i have decided to buy a dana 60 probaly from moser enginering.just need to find out how to ship it to norway the cheapest way possible.as for the engine i have it`s got some 400-450 hp and i`am going for a 150hp shoot of nos on the track.

I'm a little late on this, but.... a Dana 60 might "use" more power than its worth in sturdiness. On the other hand, it would definitely allow you to explore the horsepower options.
