8-3/4 741 diffs

This has been covered many times I'm sure, but does anyone know the highest ratio gears I can get for a 741 8-3/4? And will the suregrip carriers interchange with 742 diffs? I just bought one and it is a 3.23 open, would like to put 3.91's maybe with a suregrip on the cheap. I have 4.30's in my 742 case and it's alittle steep. I would like to swap back and forth for testing purposes.

The suregrips will interchange between all three housings. I know 3.91's were available because I have two of them. One for my '72 Duster and one for my wifes Scamp.

I have seen aftermarket gearsets in 3.55 and 3.73

i have a 741 with 3.91s. came out of a 64ish pickup

You could try Richmond Gear, Motive Gear, Strange Engineering. The 742 & 489 cases are way more popular, and gears are easy to find for them. I have a 741 also. I need to start looking for a 742 or 489 soon.
