I was thinking of just going ahead and doing the 10" drum to disc swap on my 69 340 Swinger.

I was thinking of Dr. Diff or scarebird, not sure which at this time. But for sure, doing a Dr. Diff rear axle swap. About 300 for new axles on a 5 on 4.5 BP.

My question is:

What do I do about the drums/backing plates? Do I keep the original backing plates and can put just slip on a new b-body or a-body BBP drum? Or do I need to switch the brake hardware and liners to the wider B-body system?

I have a 70 B-body 8-3/4 with the drums and plates already on it...can I just swap them on?

Thanks
Chris

If you want to go with disc brakes, don't even bother with the drums as you'll have to take off the axles anyways to install the new brake kit. I installed Dr Diffs axles and 11.7" brake kit and it went together really well. Car is still not running but I've always liked Dr Diff's parts.

Thats a neat rear disc swap, but I want to keep the drums in the back and will go with disc in the front. Wanting to keep 14's and old school 60s/70s school.

Dr Diff also sales 10x21/2 rear set up that includes the drums backing plates shoes and all the hardware assembled to the backing plates for around $350 for the pair.
