Picked up an 8.75 suregrip. It's got a leaking inner oil seal. It washed the grease right out...I will repack the bearings. Common sense tells me that the open end of the seal lip should go inward toward the gear set but the seal in there on the leaking side has the open side facing out toward the wheel bearing. The other side not leaking is facing in, the right way. Who installs a seal one way on one side and the other way on the other??? I've been dong this kind of stuff for years and have always put the open lip toward the oil. only time I've installed them otherwise was when there was a vacuum in the oil chamber...different type of machinery and totally unrelated. So the open lip goes inward ...right???
