Hey all I've been all over the Internet and I cannot find hardly any info on 1982 360s especially 4 barrels. What little info I do come across, a different site will say something different. I'm really trying to figure out what the stock cam in this motor is spec wise. I've heard some 360s had cams that barely had .400 lift and I've heard of 360s with almost .450 lift or what basically is a 340 cam. It appears the 4 barrel versions got the better stuff but I cannot confirm that on any site for an 82. Most sites go up to about 78 on 360 info. I assume not alot changed but I'd like to know what I'm working with. I'm really hoping since it's a factory 4 barrel it's got the big cam and the other performance goodies the 4 barrels generally had. Anybody got any info? Thanks

do you have a factory service manual for 82? It should be in there.

The 360 4 bbls used the 340 auto cam 268°/276° .429"/.444" lift.

The 2 bbl cam was 252°/256° .410"/.412" lift from 71 - 74.

then changed to 252°/252° .410"/.410" after 75.

I only go to 75 in my service manuals, but I would think that the 75 360 cam ran for a while and it is either that one or the 340 auto cam for the 4 bbl...

No I don't have the manual for anything. The engine was pulled from an 82 I don't actually own the vehicle it came from. I just don't understand how there's no info on that year. Only thing I can think of is there wasnt anything significant that happened or changed in 82 so the info stops at about 78 so it may be the same specs as that year I don't know. It would be nice if they carried the 340 cam all the way into the 80s but I don't know. Maybe someone has a manual for an 80s dodge truck?

This would not be the hot rod motor in an '82. The final year for the "E58" or even that style engine was '80. '82 was I think the last year the 360 offered a 2 barrel but essentially the answer is no- just because this is a 4 barrel, there's basically nothing performance about it. The 360s for trucks were pretty similar throughout the '80s, especially once the 2bbl option went away. That was not a performance move but an emissions one- 4bbls tended to smog better, so '78-up there were more and more smog 318/360 4bbls. It's not that the '80s 360s are awful, it's that the 4bbls in their stock form are essentially 2bbl engines with factory intake swaps. The 252/252 .410/.410 sounds right. I don't have an '82 book, but an '85.

Make sure you check the block on those '80s trucks and cars. Cars got 4bbl 318s with 360 heads and intake right up to 1989 in cop packages and civvy cars/truck got them until 1984.
