90/ oil filter

can someone tell me what is involved in removing the 90 degree adapter and installing the filter directly to the engine ? it looks to me like i need some sort of part for the oil filter to seal against. i installed dougs headers and don't need to use the adapter anymore
 
there is a little nipple about 2 in long that screw in the center where the big bolt from your adp. goes. It has threads on both ends with a little ridge in the middle so you want screw it in to far.
 
Yes there is a plate that is held on with the nipple and it needs a gasket.

FWIW, a long PH8A size filter won't fit an a-body straight off the block, you will need to use the short PH16 or PH43 size filter. If it were me I would keep the adapter so I could use the bigger filter.
