904 fluid capacity?

Surprising just how many different volumes and methods pop up...
and now, back to the top in 2018.

It's interesting how many opinions are not based upon fact, but rather internet gossip. Any fluid I put in must be stated to be equivalent to whatever is specified by the manufacturer. Never heard of using engine oil in automatic transmissions, especially at effectively 7:1. Engine oil will destroy a wet clutch in a motorcycle, even at that same 7:1 ratio. Engine oils are designed to do the opposite of what a hydraulic clutch pack is designed to do. Taking advice to go against what the manufacturer recommends from an internet source is not smart. Where will that source be in 20,000 miles?
Back in the day when B&M Trick Shift came out, it was only one formulation that worked in Ford, GM, Mopar, etc. The gossip then was that B&M was nothing more than dyed Ford-based transmission fluid. The guys with the modified Mopars would swap out their transmission fluid and put type F in. Who knew how long the transmission would have lasted, when it failed, they would blame the engine for having too much power. The replacement transmission would get type F again, and when it failed again, they blamed the wrecker transmission. The replacement transmission this time got the recommended fluid because the rebuilder would not warranty the transmission if they used type F.
It's funny how Mopar had no issues with the 727 holding up behind the 440 6bbl or the Hemi using regular old fashioned ATF. There are far too many anonymous internet experts parroting forum factoids.

Been using Type F from Walmart for decades..never had a clutch or band failure......

If your trans keeps failing....find a new tranny guy....alot of them running around these days....LoL...
