I would’ve preferred the seal with the boot. However, the OD of the seal would’ve been too large for the tail shaft housing boreMy dart's trans was rebuilt in the mid 80s it had a flat rear seal like in the photo post 29.
It was leaking so I replaced it with the bellows type.
Unfortunately the seal is just long enough that the bellows end touches the up curve of the yoke more than I would like. But at 1000 to 2000 miles per year I suspect it will last my lifetime
The 8835S (both the National and Timken part number) along with ATP TO15 are booted seals with the 2.254" OD. Simple parts-store stuff.I would’ve preferred the seal with the boot. However, the OD of the seal would’ve been too large for the tail shaft housing bore
Unfortunately my local parts store did not have them in stock. I’ll write that down for future use thoughThe 8835S (both the National and Timken part number) along with ATP TO15 are booted seals with the 2.254" OD. Simple parts-store stuff.
My trans went 175,000 miles with the flat seal, I think you will be fine!I would’ve preferred the seal with the boot. However, the OD of the seal would’ve been too large for the tail shaft housing bore
