Ok, with my 360 making ~380hp, I am planning on rebuilding my 904 to stand up to good street duty, with OCCASIONAL track time (MAYBE 3 times a year).

I have been told that it would be better to hunt down a 999 since it has extra clutches in it. Is it worth it? I have had many people tell me a good build on a 904 will do just fine, and that it isn't that expensive. I really do not want to get a different trans, but I don't want to waste time rebuilding something that won't stay together.

That 904 will stay together behind more that 380 HP with a good rebuild, nice big cooler, and properly adjusted linkage. Get a good quality rebuild and then drive it hard. :)

the 904 will hold up just fine.. my trans juy put an extra clutch in it for me. but it isn't really necessary. just make sure you put quality parts in it.. my trans guy swears by trans go kits.

Thanks guys.

I was thinking the same thing. Mild stall, TransGo kit, aluminum pan, good cooler, etc.
