A 1974 Duster - My 2nd one, 41 years later!

^ Thanks guys. I did black braided because i don't like the stainless line look. Yes would have been cool with orange tracer but all I could find was blue, I am fine with it.

Lots of stuff arrived today, Radiator, FiTech unit, Degree wheel, Flywheel, Intank fuel pump wiring kit. Looks like I will have to cut and lower the radiator support. No biggie, got Mig.

Worked with the Lunati Degree wheel today. With the piston stop included in the kit, and the degree wheel, finding TDC was easy. When lift indicator gauge is at .050 of intake valve lift my degree wheel was supposed to be at 12.5 degrees.....and that is exactly what it read. Success, Cam degreed correctly!

Flywheel installed with ARP bolts and Loctite 242. The bolt on weight on the back side of the flywheel, I removed. Pilot bearing is in the freezer, I will install it tomorrow.

Alex, what pilot bearing are you using? I like the roller bearing out of the 5.9 Dakota's.

I think I am just about ready to order the heads from Mike at MRL Perfomance. After a night in the freezer the pilot bearing went in with ease. Solid roller cam and MRL Performance Pro-Plus solid roller lifters.

Thanks Richard. It is the bearing that was recommended by Mike at MRL, the freezer made the install easy. I'll keep on plugging, gotta buy the heads next!
Then Clutch/pressure plate, hydraulic throw-out bearing kit, headers....and install in the car!

Lowering radiator support. How low does a radiator have to go? I think I'll lower it an 1" to 1 1/2" so I can get some rubber support bumpers underneath it. I had to cut through the US Car Tool support that I had already installed, no problem, got it done. Now to weld it all back.

Just sitting on jack stand here, figuring where it should go.

Happy 4th Alex. Looks like you need a new poss. cable also. Looking good, when's the big paint day?

Thanks for the Happy 4th wish Dave! My plans are to get it running first: engine & trans in, mechanically sound first.... Then I will get serious about the paint. I hope to order the heads next week, after that I am real close to installing the engine & trans. Clutch/pressure plate and Harmonic damper are on the way.

Good starters! The black adapter thingy unbolts if you need it gone for clearance issues. The cables will bolt right up where it comes off.

I'm beginning to think you guys are just copying each other. Lol. Engine looks great, Alex!!
