I want to order one of Hydromax's hydraulic clutch kits for my 69 Dart ( 340 / 4 speed) and apparently there are 2 spline sizes for A-833 , 16 and 23. Their Mopar kit just lists for the 23 from what I can see. Would mine be the 23 for sure or is there a way to tell with it all together?

340 4 speeds came with 23 spline input shafts.

The other model should be 18 spline and that input shaft spline count came in certain limited big block 4 speed applications.

383 a-bodies are also 23 spline, so all abody 4 speeds thould be 23 spline. The 18 spline is referred to as the "hemi" 4 speed, cam behind hemis and 440s in b and e bodies.

I don't think the 18 spline came behind "all" 440s. Was a 350-375 hp, 4bbl GTX 18 spline? I don't think so. 6BB 440 was, "six pack"

In the 70's I bought a 67 GTX for parts, had a Dana under it. It was 23 spline.

The A-body exception would be the 1968 4-speed Hemi Super Stock cars, they had 18 splines.
