I bought a A833 4spd trans for my 73 duster resto project I am told it has a 904 tail stock, was this original from the factory or did I get burned

The early 833's have the smaller tailshaft and take the 904 yoke, but do not have an actual 904 tailshaft housing.

Is that even possible? It doesnt seem to be likely. Can you post a picture?
Thats the thing I dont know,I will try and post a pic tomorrow not having much luck with that, I did try a driveshat out of a 74 valiant Auto and it does fit .I bought my car last July in Alabama It had a 833 it it but was out of a B body car that was a cobbled mess that driveshaft dont fit the spline

Seems to me my Dusters original 3spd manual took a smaller yoke than the 833 that I replaced it with. The original drive shaft was no good. If I recall grabbed a drive shaft from a gimougus Chrysler of some sort from a bone yard and had it shortend to length. And the yoke was the bigger spline. The Newyorker woulda had the 727 I think. The year of my tranny I don't know D

I would not feel better. the "early" ones were pre 67 or 68

some OD trans had the 904 style yoke

your car came with a 727 yoke
