A Body A833 transmission and 4 speed swap parts For Sale
Local pick up in Mansfield, OH 44906
$1500 cash or best offer
Most of the of the parts needed to convert your automatic to 4 speed manual. Package deal helps avoid the nickel and diming of each separate part.
All parts removed several years ago from a 1975 Plymouth Duster. Intended to convert my Dart at the time, but ended up building an E body instead. Shifted and drove fine, though I suggest at least refreshing with new seals and gaskets, shifter rebuild and clutch.

Included parts:
23 spline A833 transmission
Input bearing retainer is modified, works, but I would replace
Crossmember/mount
10.5 " Bell housing/shield/dust pan
Shifter fork/carrier bearing/boot
Clutch and pressure plate
Z bar assembly parts
Hurst competition shifter and rods
4 speed hump/cover/trim
4speed brake/clutch pedal box

Thanks for your questions and expertise, fellas. Either of you interested in the setup? Happy to hear your offers

It’s definitely a non-OD box, and may very well be an OD bell housing. This setup was bolted to a ‘69 340 in that ‘75 Duster, and it drove great. The old timer who sold me the car got his hands dirty making the car pretty sweet, but chassis rust made it a better donor than anything.

In 1975 they came out with a cast-iron overdrive 833...looks like standard one....I have one... when I saw the bearing retainer modified made me think that was an overdrive tranny

Interested but have questions about a few things.
Are any gear teeth chipped or broken?
Is that rust on some of the teeth?(using phone so pictures not the best)
Is there a shifter handle?
What is the bellhousing part number?
Are the shift levers included?

Yeah, I remember at the time being psyched that it might have been OD, but noticed the smooth ID pad figured that meant pre-'68 non-OD box, if i remember correctly. Its been a few years though.

I didn't notice any chipped or broken teeth. There doesnt seem to be any rust on the gears, but I do see a bit of surface rust on the gear selector collars. Looks superficial, on a non-contact surface. Let me know if you get a chance to view the photos on a bigger screen. That should help, but happy to take more if necessary.
No shifter handle. I gifted it years ago to my buddy for his 70 Demon.
I'll grab and share a photo of the bell housing ID number tomorrow.
Shift levers included. Will need tabs and clips.

A pic of the VIN stamp on the passenger side of the transmission might clear up what it is.
I thought I included a photo of that above. The stamping pad is smooth, so I'm assuming pre-'68. Is that wrong, or is there a different angle I can include?

There's been some interest locally as well, so I'll keep this updated if it sells elsewhere first.

You actually did show the VIN pad in several pics, but none close enough to see a VIN. If you say it's smooth though, it is. One way to tell if it's a very early 833 non OD, is to check and see if a 904 slip yoke will slide into the tailshaft. I think it was 66-67 that used those yokes. The 68 ^ 833's used a 727 sized yoke. Good luck with the sale. :)

You have to admire "experts," period !
No matter the subject, the issue or cause. When bona fide experts answer the call you know you are in business.
Hat's off to you gentlemen.

Best of luck with the sale.

Can you please try cleaning the vin pad with a hand wire brush? I can make out a few numbers off my cell phone. There are numbers stamped on it, even if there are no vin numbers the type of transmission and build number from where it was made are always stamped on the pad, vin numbers get stamped after it is assigned to a car on the assembly line.

3743859 Looks like it is probably the correct one for the 75 Duster

Good call, guys. a little brake cleaner and a wire brush revealed the casting numbers. Looks like a '70 case?
