A body BB manifolds on ebay

-
l put a query to the seller, but have yet to get a response. I tried not to sound like a d**k about it. I just asked if the $7500 reserve is accurate, not a typo.

Just to reaffirm some of what has been said here...no, $7500 is probably not a typo. If anyone is doing an "M" code RESTO...and I emphasize RESTO...will want manifolds and not headers. Headers did not come on these cars from the factory. Maybe ask "rlcbit" on here as he's had a few of these "M": code cars (has one for sale right now). $7500 maybe a bit ambitious, but they are pretty nice.

The Drivers side is super rare and almost impossible to find. I know a guy who is asking $10K for a set. The ones you seen for $750 were 383 Manifolds. The passenger side is all the same but that drivers side is 440 only A Body manifold is the money shot.

Yes, and what people also don't realize is, those manifolds are different from 67-69 with 69 being the best flowing. They are his manifolds. He can ask what he damn well wants. It's anyone else's right to not buy them. I remember a magazine doing a test on an original 69 440 car with those very manifolds. They found that the manifolds didn't affect power output in the least. Same is true of the B body manifolds too. The 69 model year was about the best for those. Course, those aren't as rare.

show me a m code dart that needs these. they just didn't make that many of them. if your making a clone its just that a clone. at that price they are just parts that nobody needs or wants.

well, the driver's side is nice. He has advertised them as new, but the RT side is obviously not new. The passenger side is missing the heat riser. It's kinda hard to see, but the spring is missing and the shaft for the valve has been replaced with a bolt.
Like someone said before the LT one is the money shot, and he can ask whatever he wants.

A person restoring a M code Dart or Barracuda would not want TTI headers if doing the car total OEM regardless of cheaper. If and I say if a guy really needs the OEM as built for their car manifolds then this is what they will seek out. I dont think TTI headers are part of the equation/ consideration to the person who wants these manifolds. But the price on these is crazy high....I guess a home run out of the park is what will win this game for the seller?
for me it`s all about go , not show. Always has been, always will-------------

I have always Been a Go guy for the most part. If you look at the GTS registry you will only find a total of around 45 M Code Darts in it. This being said most of the cars in there are old Race cars and very few are original. Most will not have the manifolds on the old race cars as thats not what people wanted. I own 2 69 M Code Dart and I have a picture of the one with a July 69 date on the picture from the original owner where he had just installed a Hemi when the car was only 1 month old. The other car is a numbers matching that I am one of those people doing an OEM restoration with as many NOS or original parts as possible. Some cars need to be preserved as delivered for the history of the cars. Yes I do have a set manifolds that I managed to buy for $1700.00 and was very thank full to the gentleman that sold them to me. Now for the price this gentleman is asking seems a little ambitious but as stated he can ask what ever he wants for them since they belong to him. As mentioned "rlcbit" is a hugh collector of Big Block Darts and he is the person I refereed to earlier that wants $10K for a set. These sellers are all fishing and want to get as much as possible for them knowing how hard they are to find.

For a person restoring a M code Dart or Barracuda....this is what they will want...headers would be useless to them as OEM build is SHOW and very little GO on a full OEM resto. They would want to spend the money on total date coded parts...headers would not be what it required in this case. Headers actually are a mute point in this discussion and the point of Gold OEM restoration is missed....or some people have no idea what that means or what is involved to be at such a level of perfection? Yes there are people who seek the upper levels of car perfection in this hobby...headers were never factory optioned on such a car so irrelevant.

the 10 grand ricblt wants for those manifolds is 1/8 the asking price of the m code dart he is selling. also thinking that if he is a collector of big block darts then why does he want to sell the m code dart.

and $1700 is a more reasonable price for a set of these manifolds, I could even agree that $2500 is a reasonable price but not $7500 or 10 grand.

Well, if you go back a ways on the site, you'll find a set of these sold a few years ago for $4500+, and $1700 will be a decent down payment on a set of these. You might have to dig into your piggy-bank if you want to own a set.

$1700 is a good price...if you're a fan of history!

$4500 would be 1/16 of what he is asking for his m code dart, there are other hard to find parts on that car like the radiator but maybe lesser so since I believe its the same radiator that came in 383 GTS and hemi darts. radiator prices are a whole lot less.

$4500 is still too pricey in my opinion and no I do not want to own a pair of these unless I owned an unrestored m code dart SURVIVOR.

Just think of all these manifolds that got dumped in the trash heap! :BangHead::BangHead:
I had 69 440 Dart a long time ago, and of course I dumped the Manifolds for headers. Hooker I think. That car was ratty but damn it was quick!

Uh-huh. And that means there are less manifolds than they are cars to put them on.

How many bought an M-code car to do stop light racing back in the day, got it home jerked the manifolds, dumped them in the scrap pile, threw on a set of headers, Cragars and fat tires and went stalking the local drag spots?

If you're doing a concourse on one of these you'll pay the price for the parts.

Absolutely. Back in the day, very, very few of us looked that far ahead. I remember helping a friend of mine put headers on his brand new forest green '70 396 Chevelle. I distinctly remember asking him what he wanted me to do with the old CI exhaust manifolds. He told me to "pitch 'em", so I threw them in the garbage can.
Myself, I , too, put Hookers on my brand new 70 AAR Cuda, however I did keep the original exh. manifolds and even the headpipes. I'd like to think I was so smart, but it was probably more a case of me being too cheap, and not ever throwing anything away, hahaha.

But this is not about what WE or anyone else thinks his manifolds are worth. It's about what someone will PAY. And this seller is hoping to find that one in a million buyer. Isn't that his right?

I am PM you with my phone number. If you buy them for me I will pay you $1800 so you can double your money. I can use them for my second car.

Dave you know they are not a 440 manifold set. I figured what the hell and would give it a shot.

That was great thinking on your part!!!! Even if it was a nice set for 383, i would have bought at 950, they are getting harder and harder to find and from what i here the right sides are likely gonna dry up due to 440 guys needing them also. I think Rhino (Jim R.) said right sides are drying up due to cracking????

Hey, you wanna play in REAL BB A-bodies, your gonna PAY.............

Hey guys...Just thought I'd put in my 2 copper pennies worth. I'm really not that new here as being part of the club. I am new here in getting into replying to some of these things that we all know to be expensive. I myself own (3) 69' Cuda's
All fast back big block cars !! One -383-S automatic, One - 383-4 speed and One 440 car. Yes it's a real 440 car that I've resurrected and there's quite a lot to say about that. Ha ha! None the less I will not tell you what I had to pay for those 440
manifolds but they are like gold for those who know how many still exist and how much it can turn your car into a "turd" on performance but not so much a turn on the value of originality. Anyone whom owns one will most likely agree how important those babies are in completing what is correct for that car. Yes I have em, no I'm not running them on the car but I have em for an original style motor if I ever wanna let her go. They'll need to bring the check book and plenty of ink !!! I will load some pics soon of that little gem as well as the other two. It's nice to be here and maybe we can swap some stories about the grueling labor of love for what I believe is part of the best classic's to own over all.
Thanks for the opportunity to chime in. David ( 69's R Us )

69'sR-Us For sure! I also own 2 383-S cars both fastbacks 69 4 speed and 67 Automatic...a 69 M code is a dream! I likely will never get that M code car for several reasons 1 hard to find, 2 when I find one to expensive, 3 expensive to restore correctly, emphasis on correctly.... which such a car deserves. Looking forward to pictures :)

so how many m code darts and barracudas were actually made and what years?
