So I have centered my engine (well pretty close). I am trying to relocate the A/C compressor and it's proving a bit of a pain in the ***. I have seen Gdemon's relocation method and am trying something similar. I am going to slice off the back mounting points of the compressor which will remove 35mm off the back edge. I plan to make the original bottom hole on the front edge of the compressor now bolt up to the top mounting hole on the block. Which will raise the height of the compressor as it will not fit in the factory location as this is where the engine mount is placed. I will also have to notch the inner fender a bit to do this and then I am also conserned about whether I will fit extractors or factory headers in as the a/c compressor will be close to the location of the first exhaust port. I am looking for other opinions on what to do before I go about this. Modify it to fit, get a different compressor, truck front accessories/timing cover?

I could almost get away with SRT8 Jeep headers now that it has been moved over but it is hitting the starter motor stub (see pic) could I remove this? Even so I'm still thinking it dumps on top of the torsion bar. I can't truely mock up until I get my intermediate shaft back from modification to bolt up to the rack and pinion system.

I am sure you could remove that part of the starter without an issue. The other solution is to use the starter from a 2005 Ram with manual trans. It rotates the solenoid up against the block

Hi Dave

Cant help with the compressor...never run air in my life and wouldnt know where to start.

As far as the pipes - I reckon mine would have worked if there had been no steering box...there was enough guard clearance it was just the damn steering box got in the way........the passenger side just dropped right in...no clearance issues.

Not sure if a rack would have created more problems or less.....but it would have only meant fabricating an engine pipe...I dont think the collectors or primaries would have interfered.

As far as your starter issue - get rid of it and buy a Mopar mini starter...problem solved?

Almost solved the ac, custom bracket and a bit of fender alteration and it should clear, i will upload pics when complete

For the back mounting hole I am going to weld a nut on to the engine mount add in a spacer/sleeve to fill the gap and slide a bolt through this and bolt it up.

I can fit my finger between this gap (this is the general rule for clearances over in Aus that they look for (about 10mm) so I need to maintain that gap. I could probably grind that lip back a bit more, roughly about 8mm left there. With that 8mm I gain I could probably add an additional 8mm spacer between the bracket and compressor?

Now I am hoping I can squeeze a header pipe off the front exhaust port and that it doesn't fowl the a/c compressor. I have already ground off the back mounting bracket and as much as I can to make room. I think a set of factory car manifolds would probably just clear but the collector flange hits the chassis rail so I can't be sure on that without cutting off part of it.

I thought about adding extra spacers between the flat bracket and the a/c compressor but that would push it in to the chassis rail. So that rules that out. I keep using Gdemon's as a reference, although his compressor is mounted higher up. I haven't been able to contact Jerry for any more pics as his inbox is full and I don't think he has been on the forum this year.

Other options are: see if I can space the compressor off the bracket a little bit more and grind a little more off the lip of the chassis rail - perhaps have 8mm I could get there.

Swap to a truck timing cover, but that requires different accessories (pwr steering pump, alternator, a/c compressor) - sounds exxy

Make new engine mounts - ones that mount off the chassis rail (just made these ones up, prefer not to do this since I've got all the engine mounts and new biscuit blow out mounts)

Custom extractors

Thoughts?
