A518/46RH transgo TFOD-HD2 shift kit install

Valve body ready for disassembly.

Remove manual shift shaft, rooster comb and PR retainer. Be sure to keep all the small parts and springs in an identifiable order. I cleaned them up and placed them together in the pan.

Remove the fluid tube by bending the retainer bracket for clearance and remove the 13 VB bolts. I removed the shoulder bolt holding the 3 pin connector first.

VB sections separated. Remove check balls and solvent clean everything. Keep check balls safe for later.

Page 3:
Step 1; One .096 hole drilled through the bottom of the most outboard passage for slightly firmer lockup.

Step 2 notch filed across the bore from top to bottom.
Step 3 no changes, used original spring to maintain existing shift points.

Step 4: insert new 1-2 shift governor valve to allow back shifting to manual low at any speed. (Command control)

Page 4:
Steps 1,2 & 3.
Installed new white spring in part throttle body. Be sure to use the old spring retainer. The new gold spring retainer is for the new kick down spring to be seen later.
New transfer plate installed.
Pin inserted into TB.
All remaining original parts reinstalled.

I'm guessing the Part Throttle body has something to do with the part Throttle kickdown function. Do the instructions tell you anything about what effect the new parts will have on the p t kickdown function?
 
They don’t really tell you much. They do do tell us that a certain mod will do a certain thing but not on every mod. I’m posting every page of the step by step and that’s all the info there is. There are some YouTube vids around but unless you know some about transmissions it’s a crapshoot I think.
 
Page 5 step 1:
Insert spring and ball into VB pocketusing the mumbly peg to hold the ball in place. Insert new manual valve and reassemble the rooster comb. Remove peg.

Page 6 steps 1 through 5:
All done on lower VB.
No step 3 as pertains to RE models only.

Page 7 steps 1 through 4:
Steps 1, 2 & 3 skipped as apply to RE models only.
Step 4 holes drilled in 1-2 & 2-3 shift holes in main plate for firmer shifts.
1-2 drilled to .106”
2-3 drilled to .125”
