A833 overhaul Questions

I have an early A-Body A833 and a rebuild kit from Brewers. I do not have an assembly shaft to perform the over haul. Suggestions?
 
I used a piece of electrical conduit, don't remember the size.

Sad part is my shop manual is at my shop NOT here. I was trying to get this figured out so I could have it later Wednesday instead of setting this project back a day or two.
 
I've probably put at least 6 - 8 of these together (it's been a few years, LOL) and all I did was use the cluster shaft for an arbor, and assembled the needles with grease, then pulled the shaft out "carefully" and stuck it together. I only remember once having to "redo" the needles
