Yeah, I do this every 6 months or so... :) Great song too and enjoy the vid! My favorite dog is Dusty... I'd get him if my present rotty alpha wouldn't throw a fit.....

I do the same thing with cats.

Every year in our small county (county, not country) almost 20,000 stray and unwanted cats and dogs get put to death.

That is un-f**kin' believable to me in our supposedly advanced modern society.

...that we actually pay people with tax dollars to pretty much do nothing but kill domestic animals by the truckload.

It's no fault of their own, they didn't ask to be overbred or abandoned.

My wife is volunteering at a "no-kill" shelter. Heartbreaking seeing some of the animals that people abandon.

On a lighter note - have you sen the "PSA" that Katherine Hiegl did for spaying and neutering?

Thanks for putting up the video with a link. King needs a playmate. Now to figure a way to get one.

We have and even found one we love but we need to save the money for a adoption fee and transportation.

All our Dogs are rescue dogs. In canada, I understand that 2500 beagles are thrown away. We have adopted 3...one so badly treated that it took three years to start being playful..I think the penalties should be far more severe.

If you cannot adopt...maybe foster a dog. I cannot think of a time that I will want to be without one.

ian,

I have been working with Wet nose rescue here in my town for over 4 years now.Because of this i have 9 dogs at my house. Thanks good my alfa male 95 pound red nose Duke is well balanced and very tolerant of new dogs we foster or long term rehab.I have had several dogs stay with me for 5 to six months at a shot than send them off to be adopted with manners and respect for people. Not always easy to do.Working with the rescue is always rewarding.I even do house calls to help people get control of the dog that is doing bad things. That is usually more train the people and not so much the dog lolo.

Here's a pic of duke laying with a foster puppy we named Squeak be cause he had a squeak for a bark.It always seems that the puupys we foster tend to go to duke eat from his bowel drink when he drinks very much like a little shadow.

Here is Eli. When he was 9, his owners drove a 100 miles then pushed him out the door. The SPCA picked him up and since he had a chip..they called the owners. What they heard was he is ours, we don't want him and never call us again! Because most folks want puppies, we adopted him just before he was going to be put down. Three fantastic years and he died of Cancer..we tried everthing but it was an incredible fast cancer that attacked his throat. He really liked MX races...all the riders used to stop and pet him. May he rest in pease.

This is Faffy..she is a Lemon Beagle. She was taken from her owner for abuse and neglect.

And last is Lulu. We fostered her Dec 27th 3 years ago. We are the 4th owners of her in the first year of her life. She was under 13 pounds. She had been beaten and one owner even tried to freeze her by leaving her out in the sub zero cold. It took 4 months before she would raise her tail while walking. She has never been particularily social...we thought that the damage was too deep however, in November this year she started to want attention especially when we came home and she is starting to play. It is a miracle.

What is wrong with some people?

A couple of months ago, a woman was arrested down here for publicly encourging her small children to beat kittens with a baseball bat...really???...REALLY???

In my opinion, animals have just as much right to be on this planet as we do, possibly more if you consider how each group has treated it, and it's other residents.

All the animals I've ever had have been either unwanted by others or strays.

Thanks everyone for being "human" :)

Ok i'm post my best friend and may he rest in peace he was truly my heart and sole mate and my wife knows it.This is Kramer my best friend the day he was put to sleep he had a mass growing on his spleen that has been bleeding internal. You are very welcome. I've always been impressed by the work you all have done and about 4 or 5 years ago asked it would be OK to post info about your organization on this site. I recieved an OK, so every 6 months or so I'll post up a remider to adopt. :) As you can tell, we have a lot of dog and pet lovers here. Hotrods and dogs just seem to go together.

If Maxie ever calms down, WGSR will be the first place I'll look.

Ok the first few pics are of pockets the squirrel she was raised from about 2 weeks old and lived as a tame but released to the wild squirrel she lived in my garage and came and went as she pleased. When she had babies she trusted me enough to let me hold he week old babies in my hand while she sat on my wrist.I think those pics were lost to hard drive failure. The last pic is of some of the pack all laying on each other with foster pup Squeak laying in the mix.
