Good stuff by the way. Most of our inspection dept used their tools. They couldn't afford Starrett :lol:
Decades ago I was forced to use Starret and thought they were British junk and found out they were actually just American junk. No comparison to Mitutoyo-the feel, the action, the accuracy, the trust. Is Starret even in business? Seriously its been that long since I've seen a Starret--anything. J.Rob

They sold out overseas.

They were the best (according to them) I had a Brown and Sharpe 6" dial caliper that worked like butter. So smooth and precise. It got dropped on it's head on the concrete and stripped the rack teeth. I donated it to the local car club for a "Best Engineered" trophy.

I have a Brown/Sharpe 0-1" micrometer that I absolutely loved for making core pins. Like you say absolute butter. My biggest fear to this day is dropping these tools. Shockproof? Yeah right. J.Rob

Nice mahogany box too. The wood grain had a great color from the coolant oil from the machines.
