Another year, another rumor of new heads available. I'm looking for any extra info to confirm, but the article says release date of December 2024 for the as-cast version.

Allready seen people post about them. They are nothing but a procomp/speedmaster/edelbrock copy, ZERO improvements

Are you looking to upgrade from the speedmaster heads your currently running? Will these new heads allow you to run your current valvetrain parts? Any posted flow numbers for these heads and how do the compare to your current heads?

Cliff Ramsdell

I believe AFR already uses heads from the Steven Sun foundry in China for some of their offerings.
They already make a few different Mopar castings, so it’s not surprising that AFR would explore the Mopar market by using what’s readily available.

That link i saw only mentioned genIII hemi heads.

Edit: oh nvm. Blew right by it in the first paragraph

That's too bad. I was really hoping for performance above ported Edelbrocks, but less $ than what Indy charges.

Just info, not looking to upgrade at this point. It's always good to have more options.

I find it funny there is so much negative comments about the new AFR heads.

There wasn’t any negative comments about the trick flow head and was branded the best small block head ever. The people that jumped on that bandwagon still haven’t fallen off.

they are all the same head (give or take a few cfm), until you go offset rockers.

Not exactly, there are various brands of the same china head, including the steven sun stuff, but the trick flow is the only one assembled with decent parts and good enough quality to install out of the box. Other wise I agree. And the bloomer head is a china casting with a really good port job. It's not a special or unique casting, but the porting makes power. Also a 3k price tag

Oh but they're makin more Chevy parts.

If the price is competitive then just another option.
Seems they could park right between the cnc speedmaster and trick flow heads.
I guess prob be similar to the promaxx level.

And with excellent hardware.
You poo poo the product, but the fact is, the head is WAY better than anything else available in a non offset head. Way better.
If it was so easy, why hasn’t anybody else come remotely close?
To me, I would rather spend 3k on a head setup specifically to my camshaft, than 2300-2400 bucks on a trickflow( or anything else) that is way down on power.
Most guys I know would kill to pick up 3 tenths( or more) for 6-700 bucks.
guys spend way more than that getting heads ported that still aren’t as good. I know, been there done that with my previous Eddie heads.

Sour grapes is all you are. Get with me when you can point out pump gas street cars running 9’s with non offset heads, that aren’t hacked up aluminum dash , gutted race cars. You can’t.

Really good port work and quality hardware easily eats up $1500-2000.

Yep. And having had both eddies and the Bloomer heads( among others over the years)
The Bloomers casting quality is better than anything else I have had.
Some people seem to have a business related agenda to not like stuff. Gotta be something odd to not like great products for our cars.

i agree 100%.
i have yet to see a TF head perform that would make me want to buy a set. even after they have been sent out for more porting.

Bloomers on the other hand i have seen how they perform and i would buy a set, the proof is there on how much better they are. to even argue this is stupid.

I didn't poo poo the bloomer heads. I said they are china castings, which they are. But they have better parts and a killer port job. Dont try to put words in my mouth. I said the AFR heads are a direct copy of the other low end heads.

Saw the AFR head yesterday. It is an as cast Speedmaster casting. No CNC work. Valve job is different than a Speedmaster.

Did not even look at that. My guess would be 11/32 just like SM.

Wow!!

That final approach on the SSR into the bowl is quite a cliff!

Is it me, or does the guide insert look a little thicker than typical?

I was wondering if you'd be able to tell about the short side. There is a massive ridge at the end of the bowl hog.

Don't know if it's camera angle/illusion or if it is 8mm.

One of the blurbs from the SEMA show mentioned AFR offering a cnc version of those.
If that happens, be interesting to see what they do with it.

It’ll also be interesting to see if it’s still like that on the final product being shipped, and if so……..what that looks like on the flow bench.

I’ll actually be pretty surprised if they don’t come with 8mm valves.

This was the head they had at PRI. Most companies take their best stuff to show....
