After market steering columns

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to revive it instead of starting a new thread. Is there an aftermarket steering column that can be used with the stock firewall? What length are you guys using?

I used an IDIDIT shorty tilt column with a 3/4" DD steering shaft. I made a slight change to the factory firewall plate to install a 3/4" bearing for the steering shaft. This was the simplest way to go for my setup at the time.

This was fairly straight forward without having to do a whole ton of fabrication work. The DD shaft has some sort of chromate finish on it and I bought a stainless u-joint to adapt to the FR steering box off ebay for $40-$45. So far I've been happy with it. The DD steering shaft also provides some extra room around the headers over the factory column.
