Aftermarket Iron Rocker arms !

-
I have some W2 stuff, with the offset shafts and blocks, but it definitely ain't moved that far...

Iron and steel arms have aluminum ones all beat to hell as far as longevity and bushings beat roller bearings. What do you do after roller bearing failure? Pray when you’re tearing down your motor and crying like a little girl when you find roller’s in your oil pan.

Yep. Just had a set done up by Gary. Very nice man. They came out great. Only thing I didn’t do was have the ratios all corrected. We talked about what I was doing, they’d be fine for street/mild strip. It’s not a max effort race engine so he agreed the added expense wasn’t worth it.
How much more for that ??
I just have to weigh out modifying these nos Mopar rockers versus new Harland Sharp etc ??

My understanding is that the blocks on race heads are offset to center the wipe from the rockers. Much like the shim kit that B3 makes, the blocks are adjusted to position the shaft on the Race W2. Econo heads would need the shims in the saddles and the holes still have to be bored off center in the shaft to accommodate the bolts.

Thanks for the info I'm going down a unfamiliar road with these particular heads but its trial and error with rocker system and height etc but these heads have 5.200 valves and with HS blocks and shafts the angles look pretty good.

Well here’s the thing...it’s expensive. I had to buy a complete set of 273 adjustable rockers as I had nothing to start with. I was looking for a long time for a nice set, I found a very nice set from a member here. I paid $235 shipped to my door for them.
Sending them off to RAU, he shot peened them, hard chromed the shafts, bushed the rockers, spot faced them and installed new adjusters with lock nuts, and resurfaced the rocker pads and he threw in a set of billet steel hold downs. That service was $508 with return shipping.
I didn’t see a need to spend any more to have all the ratios corrected for what I was doing, as I was already at $700. :0

my thoughts were, I never had these rockers before, always wanted them. They’re US made, and I supported a gentleman and his business, money stayed local. I was happy to pay it.

They are going in a mud truck with a solid cammed 360. Not a race car.

PS - I like you Approach etc. support the US company's who help keep our hobby going & I do the same [ No china junk ] ever , my Rockers are NOS W2 rockers so they would only actually need bushings so that's a little money saved but I have a backup set so could send those also and have them completely refurbished

Related to rocker arm lubrication. May be of interest.

I was given an old Mopar Performance sol lifter cam for a big block. NOS. The #4 cam journal which feeds oil to the top end has a groove machined in it to increase oil feed to the top end.
