Air Cleaner Options

Want nice look? Try finding either in a boneyard or on here one of these! This type is on early a bodies like 64 to 66 Valiants and Darts. It works great.

Starting in '70, the air cleaner included a snorkel with a thermostatic sensor and vacuum actuator. This thermostatic air cleaner feeds warmed air to the carburetor when the engine's cold, and cool air to the carburetor when the engine's warm. It improves driveability and fuel economy compared to the earlier air cleaners (or silly open-element/miniature/K&N/chrome garbage), so it's worth getting the correct thermostatic type rather than downgrading to the early plain style. Any '70 or later 1bbl slant-6 air cleaner will fit and work. Common and inexpensive as a used part; place a "Parts Wanted" ad here and/or on slantsix.org.

Are there not adapters to use a normal 4bbl. air cleaner on top... I think from Mr. Gasket or somebody?

mr gasket #6407...adapts 5 1/8 to 2 5/8
