Air cleaner vacuum hose

Quick question about the location of the vacuum hoses on my 1972 demon air cleaner. I've looked at multiple pictures where the lines from the two different diaphragms connect on the front and rear (however you would consider it) of the air cleaner. I found that almost all of them show the little nub on the inside of the air cleaner facing more to the rear diaphragm but a couple did not so it is bothering me a little bit. I'm kind of thinking it doesn't matter but just in case it does, I was wondering if anybody knows which of the two nozzles on the outside, the Lines should connect to. Enclosing a few pics in case I haven't made it clear

Hmmmmmmmmm I forget. There is however a correct way.

My GUESS is that the no nipple side (on the right) goes to intake vacuum. and the other to the mixing valve. But I just can't remember.
