altercation vs hemi denny

-
I have the HDK and allthough I haven't driven the project much I really do not see the need for power steering with the rack and pinion seems like even with a big block it turns pretty easily - alott easier than my manual stock small block a body

(Bill's) been selling his setup for over a decade, Hemi Denny for a few years.
They have both been around this stuff for a long time. Denny started on his first Hemi
A-body swaps in 1995 (20 years ago) using heavily modified K-frames, rack & pinions
and hand built exhaust headers. His first fully fabricated K-frame was in use by 2001
in HemiMark's orange Duster. I would say that is over a decade.

thanks to everybody for the help. I just got on the list for one of Denny's kits. looking forward to it .the motor will a 588" aluminum block RB. about 900 hp. it is going into this....

I'm drooling.

I'm even thinking about heading back to the shop tonight.....but I have to dig thru the e-mails first.

Thanks for the business,
Denny

It drives and handles like a new car. Steers easier and smoother despite 3+ degrees more castor. Handles bumps better too. And the headers fit. It also is designed to be 3/4" lower than the milodon pan it was designed to be used with so it is virtually impossible to damage the pan.

What style engine mounts does the hemiD's setup use? Biscuit or spool

Schumacher Creative Services builds dedicated HDK poly-spool mount for the small block, B/RB, and the new gen Hemis.

HDK offers the customer a choice of poly-spool or rubber spool for the older (stage II) Hemis that are built in-house

Roccodart440.....the rack experience......better than brand new...right???. it is sweeeeet!

The rack experience.. I like that. Yes, better than new. Like a new car.

Good to hear you use the spool type mounts. I'd never go back to biscuits again.

/QUOTE]

He answered that but thanks.

Look identical to the ones that come with the alterK as well

Look the same....but somewhat different.

Kudos to Mike Schumacher / Schumaker Creative Services....when I contacted him to produce them, he REQUIRED I design my own ....and like RMS, they can ONLY be purchased thru us respectively.

He is great to work with.

One kit he sells moves the stock (RMS) track width out by 3/8". The other he sells, moves the stock (RMS) track width IN by 3/8".
Right. That should make the RMS as narrow as about 60.5" hub-to-hub (HDK is 58" hub-to-hub).

Any idea on what your suspension travel is supposed to be with the new RMS?

I believe 4" but call to confirm

i thought the same thing until i put a power rack in my alter-k equipped dart. oh man what a difference. it was incredible with the power steering.

My Demon will have a HDK with a 426 Hemi, power rack and A/C. I cant wait to drive it. What can I say,. I'm old! LOL
Did I mention all under a flat hood?

Will the power rack work with a BB?

Will the power rack work with a BB?

on the HDK, simple change out the rack and spacers. Because of the difference in the mount (front to back placement), to place a power rack where a manual rack was previously used and keep the same location, remove 1" off the spacer....or get a new 1" spacer.

the power rack is also slightly larger in diameter at the center (under the oil pan / front of the sump) than a manual rack.....the HDK allows clearance for both

then of course, you have to add the P/S pump.

I just ordered my hdk. This is my first car build, Denny has been very patient, good guy to talk with on the phone. I bought a wrecked 2012 challenger that has a wider mounting points for the rack and pinion. Power steering is also an elec.hydraulic pump with variable output, so I can mount it virtually anywhere there's room. Wanting to use as many components from the donor hdk is going to build my k to match my rack and needs. I also contacted other members before choosing Denny all responses where top notch build quality, excellent customer service, no regrets. That's good enough for me, boxed my rack up and sent it out.

Cheers

Did I miss what car you are building and what power plant your using?? Great choice by the way. (HDK) :thumblef:

For those wondering 72 dart, with 5.7 2012 challenger 6 speed. Will post pics under hdk club once I get going. Hopefully 4 weeks.

Mike,
Package arrived yesterday

The adaption of the Challenger rack for this build is a natural. I will ask Bro John to post pictures of the K when done.
