Ok I am getting closer to getting my pro junk yard 96 Dakota to the track. Lol but I need a drive shaft made for it. I would like to get one made in aluminum and will use 1350 joints. So who would you recommend to build it? Also what is the going price for one? Thanks Mopar 65

Well before you jump into a an aluminum shaft realize that depending on the diameter you choose, (aluminum or steel) it causes exhaust interference.

I ordered one recently. 3.5", 47"ish length, 1350 slip yoke. It was about $90 more than the comparable steel, $500 plus shipping.

Driveshaft Specialists out of Texas.

I bought a brand new Ford van shaft that was plenty long, 1350 joints both ends and had to shorten it to 55". Very satisfied. I think it is 3.5". Only paid $60 for it.

I did that with a crown vic cop car shaft. Found a conversion u joint to put a 904 slip yoke on it.

If you lived closer I would give you my old one, it is already setup for what your after, Mopar 727 and Ford 8.8. I've put an overdrive in mine and it came with a new Driveshaft so I don't need the aluminum one anymore.

If you know of anyone coming to South Carolina they can pick it up and take it to you.

I used Driveshaft specialist in TX and was very happy with the price and the service.
$395.00 to my door but I did send them my slip yoke for my transmission

Look into 2001 & up Ram 1500s, they have aluminum shafts & I believe 1350 u joints. You would just have it shortened balanced.

Thank you very much, that is so kind of you. But I have a 904 and not a 727. Also i don't know of anybody going your way. But again thank you very much.

Yes, I was looking at the cop shafts until I found this one which was brand new and had the correct joints. They're nice looking but not quite the diameter of the van shaft.
I bought one too to try out. But was to short to use with the 904. Glad I only spent $20 on it.

My 2012 ram 1500 is steel, rusty as F........ too! I just had to replace my oil pan, it was in danger of leaking! Need a transmission pan also! How in the hell can they not make pans that last more than 8 years!!!!! Sorry for the rant!

Thanks every one for the info and help. I think I might of turn something in my knee. So it might be a bit before I can crawl under the truck and get measurements

14lbs with the slip yoke
