Aluminum is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust under oxygen and silicon.

I believe about 82,300 parts per million so I've read.

So why the hell do we get banged so bad when we want a set of aluminum cylinder heads vs a set of Iron?

Production cost?
Pieces of sh*t on the NYCE?
Demand?

What?

Take for example a "generic" like mopar...

I cant give away enough iron magnum cylinder heads for free to hold dead bodies down in the detroit river.:angry7:
But mopar wants 800+ for bare aluminum magnum cylinder heads that arent really even that good.:read2:

What gives? Does anyone have facts?

No, I'm not looking for aluminum heads at the moment. I believe the best smallblock cylinder head for me anyway, is a cast iron head.
But the thought crossed my mind this morning and I couldnt think of any answers regarding why such a price difference?

I dont even see that a very high grade of aluminum would be required for a large casting like a cylinder head. It's not really subject to the stresses of say a block, or is it? I am pretty sure the same aluminum that goes into a chinese mopar intake would go into say, a set of eddy heads. No?

I thought this would be a good subject.
I have my own thoughts on the matter, but maybe other know something I don't.
