'75 Duster, both my dome light and my glovebox light have the same issue, both have power to the socket, but the bulbs (new) don't light. Bulbs are setting firmly in the socket and are the correct bulb numbers. Any ideas what's going on, besides the bulbs not?

These bulbs require a grounded in the form of the door switches OR the headlight switch switched all the way counter clockwise ( or clockwise, don't recall)

With power to the socket that means one or both door switches and / or the headlight switch and /or wiring from the bulbs to the switches is the issue.

My assumptions are standard incondescent bulbs and they are tested working and they are the correct ones for the socket.

I had a car come here with a dome light not working. Wrong bulb Single post bulb in a double post socket. Make sure you have the correct bulb.

Glovebox light is a constant hot, grounded by the switch. Too much paint on the hole. A test light is your friend here. Careful with the terminal, it's special, designed to clip in one side and catch one prong on the side of the bulb. I always seem to ground it and blow the fuse.

if there is power to the bulb, then take the bulb out and check the return to ground with a powered test light or ohm meter.
If by 'power' you mean battery voltage, their could be a poor connection that shows voltage when the circuit it open but will drop when current is trying to get through the resistance. Take a non-powered test lamp, touch the hot contact for the dome lamp to ground (some exposed metal or fasterner). If the bulb won't light then there is resistance. Go to the fuse and test on both sides of it.
