Another Cuda is coming back Article

-
This is the longest running rumor out of Chrysler in the past 10 years. Ralph Gilles promised it, but it never happened. Sergio promised it, but it never happened. There are dozens of renders and no real info that it ever will happen.

Yep sure is!

But FCA just re-licensed the 'Cuda name last week and had previously done the Barracuda name.

Seems a new one will be here shortly!

Looks like a Camaro from the A-pillars on back. Kinda ugly if you can rely on the rendering in the link. Worse yet is the engine options, not even close to the Real Deal.

Engine size going away is in the works for all makes. it's hard to believe you can't buy a F-150 4x2 with a V8. the standard engine is a 2.7 V6 turbo and the option is a 3.5 twin turbo V6.

Kill off the Hemi.................Thats a really good move............. Chrysler always seems to shoot them selves in the foot, when they are onto a good thing.

Agreed. List them in no particular order:
PT Cruiser: great styling but under powered.
Prowler: no Hemi, not even a V-8
Magnum: production ended way to soon
Dakota: no longer on a truck platform
Reliant K: should have shot themselves in both feet before starting production. (just wanted a laugh)

Unless they bring back Plymouth, it's all just badges with two sided tape.

Without Plymouth, I don't see how they can have a 'cuda. But if they do want to make a smaller, 4 or 6 cylinder pony car, similar to the EcoBoost Mustang, that would be a good thing. But don't call it a 'cuda. And please, don't take a Challenger and re-badge it.

I have to wonder how many years will it be before no one can buy a real pickup with at least a decent v8 much less a diesel? wait minute, I cannot afford a new 1 t. w/ cummins NOW!!!!!!! my 95 is what 22 years old, before I croak, maybe it will have collector truck value!!??? ha

The supposedly new Cuda platform is on a small Alfa body which would make a V8 insane to fit. A V6 would be plenty for the size of the car. Adding turbo(s) would make it quite a ride. Think hopped up Grand National engine in a Feiro.

Ummmm. That and the mini van is what saved Chrysler.
Absolutely true.
A lot of people make fun of them, but in all reality, we wouldn't be discussing FCA here if Lee Iacocca hadn't took over and saved Chrysler with the K cars and the mini vans also known as ''Magic Wagons''.

That and a big fat check from the Federal government

Woohoo a 2dr. dodge charger cuda, blah blah, they already ruined the demon name, please don't ruin the cuda or barracuda name.

I wouldn't say they 'ruined' the Demon name. At least they applied it to one seriously badass HP machine.

Now the modern Dart is what I call ruining a name...

You can't have your cake and eat it with the major companies. You'll never get them to rebuild the old A body. They can only make it looks so much like the old one. If they were truly all that and then some you would be able to get a brand new 2017 Dodge Demon that looks like or really crazy close to what the '70 looked like.

I disagree on the ruining of the Demon name. It is in a hellacious power plant.

The Dart! Same above! Except you have to realize that the Dart was a inexpensive people mover. Bottom line. A disposable car. The present Dart does everything the older Dart did for what it was designed for.
A compact car
Good mileage
Available with no options to a few decent ones.

While it doesn't exactly pack 340 power and time slips, there is a turbo version that moves pretty good on the Hwy.

It is doing exactly what it is designed to do. Move people in expensively.

That's what a Dart was then, that is what a Dart is now.

IF they actually revive the Cuda into a car, I would expect it to follow how the parent company runs and works there sports car.

Compact in size
Standard with a 4cyl.
Available with a V6
Manual trans into a trans axle front wheel drive. Possible rear wheel for the American market.
Seats 4, but really 2 since the rewards seats are only worth a bag each. Grocery or overnight.

Stop pipe dreaming and bashing what will appear because what we would like to see will never happen.

And you know that's the truth!

Except during the '60s-'70s Darts and Valiants sold like crazy. The new Dart has been discontinued due to poor sales.
