Hello everyone another new user here from West Virginia. About to get my first A body a 73 dart with the straight 6 auto in it.

I've come here to learn and read and hopefully not ask too many questions that you've all answered a million times. I'm an old Honda forum user so I get the gyst of how the boards work.

About me I'm from wv and an oil field worker. Work way too much and like tinkering with cars. I currently have an 87 supra I'm working on and an integra I'm building and my pride and joy a 57 d100 I'm resto modding with gasp an lq4 and built 4l80 with twin 67mm turbos and a ford 8.8 lsd ranger rear end on a bagged cut down s10 frame.

Trying to decide what to do with the dart bored and stroked 360 gen 3 hemi swap or an ls based motor.

Hope to learn lots on here and buy up others used parts they want to sell because I believe in recycling and giving my money to people instead of corporations when possible. Hopefully I won't annoy you guys too much.

My d100 progress pictures even though this is an a body site just because I'm proud of it.

Welcome aboard glad to have you! We don't care if it's an abody if it's a mopar or hot rod changes are we are gonna like it! I have alot of projects I discuss here that are not a body related! Just use the general discussion board or Mike will get ya! ;) lol

Trying to actively avoid that scenario

Thanks for the love on the truck guys. I mentioned my plans forever ago on the d100 boards and basically got turned away for ls swapping it. You guys seem alot cooler.

You will probably get some hate by someone for a ls swap but most don't care. It's your truck your project do what you want. Me personally I love inventive hotrodding. I like thinking outside the box and using what you have available and can afford.

Me too thats the whole premise behind hotrodding

:welcome: from :canada:

Cool truck! I used to work with a guy long ago who had a 55 Dodge truck.
Honestly I lucked into it. It's the first one I'd ever see. People where I live don't do much more than the normal mopars everyone sees. Charger dart duster you know the ones.

I got a deal of a deal on the truck running and driving. It was first restomodded in the 80s and it shows and isn't a good job. Front end cut off and replaced with an aspen or diplomat front end.

Firewall butchered for a smog era 318. Floor pedals removed for hanging pedals. Holes all over the cab from the butchery. But the body is nice.

I'll be redoing it like listed above.

Cut down and bagged s10 frame for a better fit to the body plus bags are cool and so isn't an updated suspension.

Semi built lq4 with twin 67mm turbos and a monster built 4L80 with a Yank 3200 stall converter coupled to a ranger 8.8 with 373 gears and an lsd and 4 link.

Should be a cool and fun truck once done I hope.

Again thanks for all the compliments on this project. Now to find another mopar car to mod. The duster I was looking at won't be happening and I'm not a huge fan of the darts although I am looking at a flat nose 72 currently complete for cheap but 5 hrs away. I'll keep everyone updated if I can pick it up.

Welcome, I too love your Truck. I have more Trucks than a-bodies. My Trucks would be considered modern (all 1979's) as compared to your cool Truck.

Found my project duster. Some of you may recognize it. I picked it up from @niceolddart Yesterday and after spending 17 hrs on the road I finally got it home. He got it from another member on here so it would be cool to know who that was aswell.

Not sure if any of you have tried to tow a duster backwards but that doesn't work very well. Learn from my mistakes After reloading it and taking the driveshaft loose from the rear end we finally made it back home with it.

Plans. Finish the body work. Find any missing interior bits and put it back together. Thinking a bored and stroked magnum 360 have to figure out a trans for that. Kind of want a 5 speed but not sure how to make that work just yet or which one to get. Paint I'm thinking black cherry pearl with matte black side decals it has a black interior already. Unsure on wheels just yet.

I'm thinking of doing an ifs and irs and subframe connectors aswell. Lots of money but it will be nice new and modern. Put in a vintage air system new dakota or something similar gauge pack. You know big 20 year build plans

Anyway enough jaw jacking. Here's some pictures. I'm open to discussion and insights from members who have done the suspension stuff if any of you have and what's the best way to go about it. I'm very hands on and mechanically inclined.

I seem to keep getting good deals on mopars. Way better than any other vehicle I've purchased. Both mopars I've bought run and drive. Can't say that about any of my Japanese cars plus I can afford a mopar muscle car where as the pricing for most chevrolet and Ford offerings I like is rediculius. It's nice to see some old mopar trucks in the group maybe one day when mine is finished I'll be able to come to some shows (if they'll let me in because mine isn't mopar powered)
