I'm getting ready to install the front and back glass on my '72 Swinger. Some of the trim clip screw holes look oversized. Previous owner may have drilled them out rather than remove the stuck screws by cutting slots in the heads and using a screwdriver as I did.

How critical is the clip location? The vertical location will be important so that the clip isn't too deep or too tall. But what about horizontally? Does it matter if the holes are (say) half an inch to one side or the other?

What do I do with the old holes? Butyl, JB weld, POR-15 patch, ?

This trim/body stuff is all new to me.

thanks for any help.

Location is not crucial. The height is, as you guessed. They should not be near the splices or in the corners, obviously.
Fill them with either windshield urethane or weld them over. Very few things can permanently seal a windshield leak as well as those 2 things.
