i finally decided to get a dang phone ....im sick of never being able to call ppl during the day when none of my family is around.

i am trying a T-mobile SIM card from Wal-mart ....one of those pre-paid units.

i got the sim only bcoz i already have a phone that didnt have a SIM card

so first problem is i had to shave the sim card down to fit in the Micro sim slot.

and it works getting and recieving calls but only for T-mobile numbers ...all the other numbers say "no mobile network available" i been messing with this all day!

the phone is an unlocked Galaxy S3....it originally came with a Saudi Telecom sim card bcoz the phone was bought new in Saudi Arabia...but its an unlocked International version ....so it should work with any Sim on the planet.

is there a phone setting i can use to fix this problem?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it sounds like you are on the T mobile network only. Do you have a phone service plan? If so did you have it activated?

There are a few things I would like for you to do on your phone, if you would.

  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Scroll to Settings, then tap on it.
  3. Tap More settings.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
Under this setting, see if there is an option for "T-Mobile Only." While I really don't think this would restrict your phone from only making or receiving calls to/from other T-Mobile customers, it's worth a shot. Also, make sure that your Preferred Network mode is set to "Automatic." It's much easier this way letting the phone decide which network to use depending upon what is available in your area. If worse comes to worse, you can always dial 611 on the phone and connect to T-Mobile's customer service. Warning: Last I knew, their 611 service for prepaid phones was not actually handled by T-Mobile employees, but at a call-center for a company called StarTek. (I used to work for them, and I was T-Mobile prepaid customer service) Usually, the people are pretty helpful, but there are always a few that like to abuse the system and not actually care about helping people.

Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out.

In a previous thread I believe you started a while back it sounded like you WERE a phone GURU!!!

Hope you get it worked out!
